For younger babies that are starting on solids you can process the oats in a blender creating a cereal powder that will be easier for them to eat. Store large amounts of the cereal powder in a sealed container in refrigerator or pantry.
Place the water in a small pot, low-medium heat. Add the oats and keep stirring from time to time while it’s cooking. Will be ready in about 1-3 minutes. Once cooked, sprinkle a small layer of cinnamon and stir. Add the fruit puree (any kind) and stir. You may use homemade or regular fruit puree. The idea is that the fruit puree will give the sweet taste that baby will love.
For older babies, you can add pieces of fruit. I like to add blueberries. Cut blueberries into small pieces and add them to the oatmeal.
You can store unfed portions in the refrigerator for the next day. I wouldn’t recommend freezing but its very easy and quick to make portions for 1-2 days.
Makes about 4 ounces.
